Air Anka granted flight permit to Antalya from Russia

The Turkish airline Air Anka has secured a vital approval from Russian aviation authorities.

This permit provides the green light for new flights to the popular holiday resort city of Antalya in Turkey, with operations commencing from the Russian city of Sochi on 2 August 2026.

This expansion is expected to increase the total flight capacity for travellers to one of Turkey’s most-visited destinations and signals a strengthening of travel connections between the two nations.

Antalya represents a central hub for international tourism, particularly for visitors from Russia and a wide range of European countries.

With these new routes, access to the region will be significantly improved, which could influence both supply and demand during the important high season.

Increased flight capacity is a clear sign that the Turkish travel industry anticipates continued robust growth in tourist numbers. The new direct flights from the Russian Black Sea city of Sochi to Antalya are scheduled to begin in August 2026.

This connection will offer travellers from Russia additional and more direct options for reaching the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

For tourists planning future holidays in the region, this means more choices and potentially greater flexibility in travel planning, particularly as 2026 approaches.

Air Anka' s entry into this route is also a clear indication that the Turkish tourism sector expects sustained strong demand from the Russian market.

Such strategic route expansions actively contribute to strengthening Turkey' s position as a preferred and accessible destination and could, in the long term, lead to increased competition among the airlines operating in the region. For travellers, including those from the Nordic countries who frequently choose Antalya for their holidays, the increased traffic and capacity to the destination could have indirect but noticeable effects.

It may contribute to a generally livelier atmosphere in holiday areas, potentially more tourists at popular attractions, and a wider variety of service offerings.

Furthermore, a change in the overall market situation over time could influence price levels for hotels, excursions, and other tourist services.

It is therefore always wise to keep an eye on developments in flight availability and the general flow of tourists when planning trips to Antalya for 2026 and the years that follow.
