Alanya Faces Planned Weekend Power Outages

Alanya’s regional power provider, AEDAŞ, has announced planned electricity cuts for this weekend, commencing Saturday morning. The utility stated that the work is necessary to secure and enhance the city’s power supply, with outages potentially lasting until evening in specific districts. These planned interruptions are expected to impact daily life for both residents and visitors.

The outages will bring practical challenges, especially for residents and tourists during the summer heat, as air conditioning may be unavailable. Essential services such as electrical appliances, lighting, and internet access will be affected, potentially disrupting communication and daily routines. Water supply in buildings reliant on electric pumps may also be impacted.

AEDAŞ clarified that the planned work forms part of its ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure and enhance the reliability of the power grid. While acknowledging the short-term inconvenience, the provider emphasised that these investments are crucial for preventing more extensive and unpredictable failures, thereby ensuring a stable power supply in the growing Alanya region.

Residents and visitors are advised to prepare by charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices in advance. Having alternative light sources, such as flashlights or power banks, is recommended. For internet access, mobile data may serve as an alternative. Care should also be taken with refrigerated food, particularly if the power cut extends over several hours.
