Alanya Farmlands Face Drought Risk Amid DSİ Water Cuts
Over 80 hectares (approximately 200 acres) of agricultural land in Alanya’s Dinek and Hacımehmetli districts are at risk of drying out due to persistent water cuts initiated by DSİ (State Hydraulic Works). Local producers, directly affected by the situation which became known on June 19, 2026, have expressed significant concern and are demanding an immediate solution from authorities to avert extensive crop losses.
The severe water shortage not only threatens the livelihoods of farmers but also the lush green landscape characteristic of these areas in Alanya. The affected regions, Dinek and Hacımehmetli, are crucial for the local agricultural production. With water cuts already beginning to take their toll, farmers face the risk of losing entire crops, which would have a significant negative impact on their finances and the local food market.
Local producers are appealing to authorities and DSİ to prioritise a rapid and effective resolution to the water supply problems.
