Alanya Marks 100th Maritime and Cabotage Day

On July 1, 2026, Alanya will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Turkey’s Maritime and Cabotage Day. This significant national holiday celebrates the establishment of Turkey’s right to national shipping in its own waters, underscoring the nation’s maritime heritage. The centennial festivities in Alanya highlight the city’s deep connection to the sea and feature a comprehensive programme for residents and visitors alike.

A highlight of the celebration will be the public visit to the Coast Guard vessel TCSG-92, offering a rare opportunity to explore an operational naval craft and learn about the Coast Guard’s vital role in securing the coastline. The day will also feature ‘breathtaking races’ along the harbour, including the popular ‘greased pole competition’ (yağlı direk yarışı), promising entertainment and laughter.
