Alanya Municipality Strengthens Flood Prevention Ahead of Winter
Alanya Municipality' s technical department (Fen İşleri Müdürlüğü) is currently carrying out extensive cleaning works along the Hacet Stream, which flows through Alanya’s city centre.
These vital measures are being implemented to improve the stream' s capacity and prevent potential flooding, which could significantly impact residents, tourists, and the local business community during the intense rainfall of the coming winter months.
The work is being carried out around the clock to ensure maximum efficiency before the wetter and colder season sets in.
So far, the teams have removed a massive 985 truckloads of foreign objects and accumulated waste from the stream bed.
This significant cleanup directly contributes to improving natural water flow and reducing the risk of blockages. The primary goal of this municipal initiative is to protect the city against the challenges that severe winter weather can bring.
By increasing the stream' s ability to handle large volumes of water, the municipality aims to minimise the danger of water damage, disruption to daily life, and inconvenience for everyone living in or visiting Alanya.
This ensures safer conditions and smoother operations throughout the winter.
For foreign residents and tourists planning to visit Alanya in the coming months, these preventive works signify the municipality’s commitment to maintaining a safe and functional environment.
A reduced flood risk means a lower probability of road closures, damage to infrastructure, and general disruptions, which contributes to a more pleasant and secure experience in the region during the rainy season.
