Alanya Organises Fundraiser for Boy with Muscular Dystrophy

Alanya is preparing a major fundraising event this Friday evening for Taha Miraç, a local boy battling Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The campaign, initiated by Mahmutlar Mayor Ahmet Sönmez, seeks to cover the high costs of Taha Miraç’s essential medical treatment. Only 40 percent of the necessary funds have been raised so far, highlighting the urgent need for community support.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare and progressive genetic disease that causes muscles to weaken gradually. Patients with DMD require ongoing and expensive medical care, including physiotherapy and specialised medications, to manage symptoms and improve their quality of life. Access to these critical treatments is severely challenged without sufficient funding.

The fundraising drive for Taha Miraç is a broad mobilisation across Alanya, involving businesses and individual residents alike. Mayor Ahmet Sönmez has appealed for support from all sectors, including international residents and visitors. The campaign will be featured during a special broadcast this Friday evening, urging the community to show solidarity. Those wishing to contribute or learn more are encouraged to follow local channels for information.
