Turkish Minister Announces Alanya-Northern Cyprus Natural Gas…
Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has announced a significant 97-kilometer natural gas pipeline project set to connect the Turkish coastal city of Alanya directly to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The strategic infrastructure initiative aims to enhance TRNC’s energy supply security and is targeted to be operational by the end of 2028.
This development underscores Alanya’s growing importance as an energy transport hub within the wider region. Such infrastructure projects are expected to have long-term positive effects on the local economy, potentially attracting further investments to the Alanya and Antalya regions and confirming the area’s role in major national and international development efforts.
For Northern Cyprus, the pipeline represents a critical improvement in energy security, which could lead to stabilized energy costs and support broader economic growth. This enhanced energy stability may also indirectly influence the economic dynamics across the entire Eastern Mediterranean area.
