Alanya Water Sports Sector Sees Slow Start to Tourist Season

Alanya’s water sports sector has seen an unexpectedly slow start to the tourist season, despite its official commencement. Serkan Çelik, head of Havana Su Sporları, reported a significant decline in activity compared to previous years, impacting local businesses reliant on international visitors.

Water sports, including jetskiing, paragliding, and banana boat rides, are a central part of Alanya’s tourism offerings. This current downturn reflects a general trend in the early summer months, with fewer visitors utilising these popular attractions than anticipated.

Industry stakeholders anticipate a recovery after June 25, traditionally when most European schools conclude their academic year and summer holidays begin. This period typically sees a significant increase in families and younger travellers choosing Alanya as a destination, promising a more vibrant atmosphere and increased demand for water sports along the coastline.
