Booking.com may return to Turkey after nine-year absence
The popular hotel booking platform Booking.com may soon return to Turkey, having been unable to offer reservation services for Turkish accommodation providers for approximately nine years.
A new piece of legal regulation has recently been presented to Turkey' s Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
If this bill is passed and enters into force, Booking.com will once again be able to list and process bookings for hotels and other accommodation across Turkey.
This represents a significant development for tourists, foreign residents, and anyone planning travel to the country. For nearly a decade, travellers to Turkey have faced restrictions when using Booking.com, as the platform has been unable to display or process bookings for hotels located within Turkey.
It has only been possible to use the platform for international bookings made from within the country.
The re-entry of Booking.com is expected to increase competition among booking platforms and potentially offer a wider and more varied selection of accommodation options for visitors.
This could impact prices and availability, especially in popular tourist regions such as Antalya, Istanbul, and Cappadocia.
