British investment firm to take full ownership of Condor – pursuing strategic partner

Attestor, a British investment company, is preparing to become the sole owner of the renowned holiday airline Condor.

According to reports, Attestor intends to purchase the German government' s remaining 49 per cent stake in the carrier.

The transaction is expected to be completed by 30 September 2026.

Once the acquisition is finalised and Attestor becomes the sole owner, the plan is to continue the search for a strategic airline partner for Condor.

This indicates a desire to strengthen Condor' s position in the market and potentially expand its operations or route network. What does this mean for travellers?

For passengers, particularly those planning holidays to popular destinations such as Turkey, changes in Condor' s ownership and future partnerships could prove significant.

Condor is a leisure airline that traditionally serves many European holiday regions.

A new strategic partner could lead to adjustments in routes, increased or decreased capacity on certain stretches, and potentially changes to ticket pricing and service offerings.

Such structural changes within a major airline can also influence competition in the package holiday and flight market.

Travellers should therefore be aware of how these changes might impact the availability and cost of their future travel plans. The potential impact on travel to Turkey is noteworthy, as Germany remains one of the most important source markets for Turkish tourism, with a large number of holidaymakers annually choosing destinations such as Antalya, Bodrum, and Izmir.

As a German leisure airline, Condor plays a key role in transporting many of these tourists.

Changes in Condor' s strategy and capacity resulting from the new ownership and a potential partnership could therefore indirectly affect the total availability of flights from Germany to Turkey.

This, in turn, could impact demand, prices, and options for travellers originating from Germany, which may subsequently influence the broader market for travellers from other regions who frequently visit the same destinations.
