Low Voltage Threatens Alanya Agriculture
Farmers in Alanya’s İmamlı district, specifically the Mezarardı area, are facing a critical situation due to prolonged low voltage on the power grid. For approximately two weeks, agricultural producers have been unable to operate essential irrigation pumps, threatening their crops.
This insufficient power supply has led to severe consequences for local food production, with vegetables and fruits in both open fields and greenhouses beginning to wither. Despite paying high electricity bills, farmers cannot maintain the critical irrigation needed for their crops, jeopardising both the current harvest and their economic stability.
The affected farmers are demanding an immediate solution, highlighting the injustice of paying full price for a public service that fails to deliver adequate capacity. Authorities are urged to address the issue promptly to minimise financial losses and safeguard Alanya’s vital food production, as the problem could also indirectly affect residents and tourists through reduced availability and increased prices of fresh local produce.
