TARİŞ sets advance payment price for sultanas at 80 TL
TARİŞ, the Turkish cooperative union for grape farmers, has announced its procurement principles for the 2026 season regarding seedless sultanas.
The union has established a gross figure of 80 Turkish Lira (TL) per kilogram as an advance payment price for producers.
This decision forms part of the preparations for the upcoming season and is intended to provide economic stability for grape farmers across the country. The set advance payment price of 80 TL/kg will apply regardless of the quality of the sultanas.
This is a vital element, ensuring that all producers receive a pre-guaranteed price for their harvest.
The initiative by TARİŞ, which is a major stakeholder within Turkish agriculture, has a direct impact on the incomes of thousands of grape farmers, particularly in the Aegean region where a significant proportion of Turkey' s grape production takes place. According to the announcement, appointment scheduling for sales will open on 7 September.
Physical procurement of sultanas from producers will commence shortly thereafter, on 10 September.
This schedule provides farmers with clarity regarding when they can deliver their products and receive payment, which is essential for their planning and post-harvest liquidity. Sultana production is a crucial component of Turkey’s agricultural economy and contributes significantly to the nation’s export revenues.
As one of the world' s largest producers of sultanas, the pricing established by TARİŞ influences not only domestic conditions but also Turkey’s standing in the global dried fruit market.
A stable and fair price can strengthen the competitiveness of producers and ensure sustainable production practices. This price adjustment is particularly relevant during a time of persistent inflation in Turkey, where the costs of production inputs such as fertilisers, fuel, and labour have risen.
By setting a clear advance payment price, TARİŞ helps to mitigate uncertainty for farmers and support their economic resilience.
This may also indirectly influence the broader agricultural sector by establishing a benchmark price for other stakeholders and products. For Turkish households and consumers, stable producer prices can contribute to food price predictability over time.
While this is primarily a price for producers, it helps maintain the supply of an important product within the Turkish diet and for export markets.
A robust agricultural sector is essential for Turkey’s economic stability and food security, and measures such as this are part of the country' s ongoing economic policy.
