Turkey Adopts AI to Monitor Public Tenders
The Turkish Competition Authority (Rekabet Kurumu) has recently begun utilising artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor public tenders.
The objective is to rapidly identify suspicious patterns and businesses engaging in anti-competitive activities.
This initiative forms part of Turkey' s broader efforts to digitise public services and strengthen oversight of economic processes.
Birol Küle, President of the Turkish Competition Authority, confirmed the development.
He explained that the new system processes vast amounts of data provided by the Public Procurement Authority (Kamu İhale Kurumu).
By filtering and analysing these extensive datasets, the authority can instantaneously detect potential irregularities. The technology underpinning the system employs advanced algorithms to analyse both historical and ongoing data from the tendering processes.
This enables the detection of anomalies that may indicate illegal price-fixing, bid rigging, or other breaches of competition law.
For Turkey, this signifies a more efficient and transparent management of public funds, which contributes to the fight against corruption.
