Turkey launches digital pesticide tracking system for food safety

Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry launched a new nationwide digital system, B-Reçete, on July 1 to enhance food safety and control pesticide use. The system provides a comprehensive digital overview of the entire lifecycle of agricultural pesticides, aiming to ensure compliance with standards.

The B-Reçete system tracks all parties involved in pesticide handling, from prescribers and sellers to buyers and appliers. Its objective is to create a transparent chain where every stage of pesticide application, including specific chemicals, dosages, and target crops, is recorded and monitored.

Described by the ministry as a mandatory inspection measure, this initiative directly addresses concerns over pesticide use in Turkey over the past two years. The system is expected to prevent overuse and misuse, reduce unwanted residues in food products, and thereby protect public health.

The implementation is anticipated to improve the quality of Turkey’s agricultural products and bolster its export capabilities, particularly to markets with stringent food safety requirements. This digital investment underscores Turkey’s commitment to sustainable food production and consumer protection.
