Turkey Launches National AI Platform for Institutions

Turkish technology giant HAVELSAN has finalised and launched ORION, a national big data management platform developed to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the country' s institutions.

The platform is now ' ready for service' and will provide both public and private organisations with the opportunity to utilise their extensive datasets more effectively through advanced AI tools.

This initiative marks a significant step in Turkey' s digital transformation and commitment to national technological infrastructure.

ORION serves as a central system for managing large volumes of data, enabling institutions to collect, process, and analyse information from various sources.

By connecting this data to AI applications, organisations can extract deeper insights, automate processes, and improve decision-making.

This is particularly relevant at a time when data-driven insight is essential for efficient operations and innovation. HAVELSAN is a major player in Turkish defence and information technology, known for its contributions to systems development and digitisation.

The development of ORION underscores the company' s role in driving Turkey' s national technological independence, not only within the defence sector but also in the civil sector.

The project aligns with Turkey' s strategic goals of strengthening its national competence in critical technologies such as AI and big data.

The introduction of such a platform has significant implications for Turkey.

It is expected to accelerate the digitisation of public services, streamline administrative processes, and promote a more data-driven approach throughout the state apparatus.

By providing a nationally developed solution, the reliance on foreign suppliers for critical infrastructure is reduced, which strengthens digital security and sovereignty. In the long term, the ORION platform could help stimulate innovation and growth across various sectors, from healthcare and education to defence and industry.

It will lay the foundation for the development of new AI-based applications and services, which may provide Turkey with a competitive advantage and open up new export opportunities within digital technology.

Such national initiatives are also relevant for international partners, including NATO allies, by promoting technological interoperability and cooperation.
