Turkey plans large-scale high-speed rail network expansion and satellite launch
Turkey' s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Uraloğlu, has presented ambitious plans for a comprehensive expansion of the country' s high-speed rail network.
The announcement, made recently, outlines a strategic commitment to modern rail connections that are expected to transform both travel habits and the economic dynamics of the country.
These plans underscore the government' s dedication to improving national mobility and regional integration. According to Minister Uraloğlu, the number of provinces connected to Turkey' s high-speed network will more than double over the next four years.
From the current 11 provinces where modern high-speed trains operate, the goal is to increase this number to 27 provinces by the end of 2028.
This expansion will more closely link several of the country' s key urban and economic centres.
The long-term vision extends even further, with a target for the entire country of Turkey to be covered by a high-speed rail network by 2053.
By this deadline, it is intended that travel between all regions of the country by train will be possible within a time frame of 48 hours.
Such an extensive network would revolutionise national travel and dramatically reduce travel times for both citizens and businesses. Such a significant investment in rail infrastructure is expected to trigger profound economic ripple effects.
Better transport links can stimulate internal trade, significantly reduce logistics costs for businesses, and thereby promote industrial growth, especially in regions that have previously had limited access.

In addition to the rail development, Minister Uraloğlu announced progress on another strategic project: the Türksat 7A satellite.
Work on this satellite has now commenced, with plans to launch it into space in 2029.
