Turkey publishes three-year plan for tourism investments

The Turkish government has officially published a circular outlining the public investment plan for the period 2027–2029.

This significant document, released in the country’s official gazette, Resmi Gazete, contains detailed guidelines on how future public investments will be prioritised across Turkey’s many tourism regions.

The circular, titled ' Preparation of the Public Investment Programme for the 2027–2029 Period', establishes the framework for how state funds will be allocated over the coming three years.

The primary objective is to ensure that resources are directed towards projects critical to strengthening the tourism sector. For travellers, this represents a clear indication that Turkey will continue to invest in developing and improving its tourism destinations.

The priorities outlined in the circular will influence everything from transport infrastructure and public facilities to the maintenance and development of attractions and cultural heritage sites in areas such as Antalya, Istanbul, Bodrum and Cappadocia.

Although the circular is primarily an internal governance document, it has direct implications for visitors.

Improved roads, modernised airport facilities, enhanced public services and new attractions can contribute to a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.

It may also affect capacity and accessibility in popular areas, and could indirectly influence the pricing of certain services over time.

The plan, which extends until the end of 2029, demonstrates a long-term commitment to the growth and quality of tourism.

Tourists and foreign residents in Turkey can expect to see gradual improvements and development in the areas that the government chooses to prioritise for these investments, potentially elevating the overall travel experience in the country.
