Turkey’s 2030 Tourism Strategy: From Volume to Quality
Turkey has presented its new tourism strategy for 2030, which marks a significant shift in the country' s approach to tourism.
The primary focus is a transition from ' quantity to quality', which may have direct consequences for travellers planning trips to the country in the years to come.
This new roadmap for Turkish tourism reflects an acknowledgement that the global travel industry is changing.
Instead of primarily chasing ever-higher visitor numbers, Turkey now aims to attract tourists who contribute more per visit, thereby increasing total revenue from the sector. A central goal of the strategy is to increase the country' s tourism earnings.
This indicates that future products and services may become more premium-oriented, and that emphasis may be placed on developing experiences and facilities that appeal to travellers with a higher spending capacity.
For Nordic travellers, this could mean access to more tailored packages and higher standards.
Another ambition is to spread tourism activity throughout the entire year, i.e., over 12 months, rather than concentrating it solely on the peak seasons.
This could lead to the development of new attractions, events and activities outside the traditional summer months, which could potentially offer travellers new opportunities to explore Turkey during quieter periods with lower prices. For tourists, this means that Turkey may, in the future, offer a more diversified and quality-focused travel experience.
One can expect changes in both supply and price structures, as well as increased availability for travel during the shoulder seasons or winter months.
This may influence the planning of future holidays to destinations such as Antalya, Istanbul and Cappadocia.
