Turkey’s 5G subscribers approach 48 million in six months
The Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, has announced a significant increase in the country' s 5G subscriptions.
By the end of September, the number of 5G users had reached nearly 48 million, just six months after the service was launched.
This marks an important milestone for Turkey' s digital infrastructure and demonstrates a rapid adoption of the new mobile technology. Minister Uraloğlu specified that the total number of 5G subscribers stood at 47,661,726 as of the end of September.
This figure underscores the rapid rollout and uptake of the 5G network in Turkey.
The process began with a tender round exactly one year ago, and the service was made available to the general public six months ago, which testifies to an efficient implementation on the part of the state.5G technology represents the fifth generation of mobile networks and offers significantly higher speeds, lower latency, and greater capacity compared to earlier generations such as 4G.
These features are crucial for supporting an ever-increasing number of connected devices, from smartphones to sensors in Industry 4.0 applications and the Internet of Things (IoT). For Turkey, the rapid adoption of 5G is a sign of progress in the country' s ambitions for digital transformation.
The development of robust digital infrastructure is a priority task for the government, which has set targets to modernise public services, support the digitalisation of the business sector, and improve connectivity for its citizens.
The high growth in subscriptions indicates that both the population and the industry are actively embracing the new opportunities that 5G offers. This development has far-reaching implications for Turkey' s economy and society.
Improved connectivity via 5G can contribute to increased innovation, create new jobs, and improve efficiency across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, transport, and healthcare.
The technology is also fundamental to the development of smart cities and improved e-government services, which can simplify daily life for many. The aggressive rollout and rapid adoption of 5G position Turkey as an important player in global digital development.
Investment in advanced telecommunications infrastructure is a fundamental component of the country' s strategic development, economic competitiveness, and its ability to integrate further into the digital global economy.
