
Turkey’s lunar spacecraft ready for testing ahead of 2027 launch
Turkey' s first lunar spacecraft, known as the " Ay Uzay Aracı," has completed its production, assembly, and integration phases.
This key milestone was recently announced by Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Turkey' s Minister of Industry and Technology.
The craft, which serves as a central component of the nation' s ambitious " Türkiye' nin İlk Ay Görevi" (Turkey' s First Lunar Mission), is now set to undergo a critical testing phase ahead of its planned launch in the early months of 2027. Following its completion, the lunar vehicle is being transferred to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), a leading entity within the Turkish defence and aerospace sector.
At this facility, it will undergo comprehensive system-level environmental testing.
These evaluations are essential to ensure the spacecraft can withstand the extreme conditions of space, including vacuum, significant temperature fluctuations, and radiation, before it embarks on its journey to the Moon.
This project, forming part of Turkey' s National Space Programme, underscores the country' s commitment to developing its own space technology and reducing reliance on foreign solutions.
