Turkish Airlines Launches New Direct Route to China from Istanbul

Turkish Airlines (THY) is introducing a new direct route from Istanbul to Chengdu Tianfu in China.

The new service will commence on 11 November as part of the 2026-2027 winter schedule.

This provides travellers with new opportunities for direct flights between Turkey and China, which may influence travel planning and availability for both tourists and business travellers alike.

The new route will operate with three weekly departures.

Chengdu Tianfu will become a new hub within Turkish Airlines' growing network in China, highlighting the airline' s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Asian market. For travellers, this means an easier and more direct connection to one of China’s most important cities, known for its rich culture, culinary traditions, and as the gateway to the famous Panda Research Base.

Reduced travel times and fewer stopovers may make trips more attractive, whether one starts the journey in Turkey or uses Istanbul as a transit hub.

The expansion of the flight network reflects a growing interest in travel between the two regions and may help to stimulate tourism in both directions.

Nordic travellers using Istanbul as a transit hub will now gain a new alternative for travel to China.

This new route from Turkish Airlines will increase capacity and options for international travellers.

It may also influence prices and availability for flights to China from Istanbul, offering more flexibility for travellers planning trips from November 2026 onwards.
