Turkish State Railways introduces e-tickets from 1 September
Turkish State Railways (TCDD) is implementing a new and more streamlined train ticketing system from 1 September.
The change means that all passengers purchasing train tickets in Turkey will henceforth receive their tickets as a PDF attachment directly via email once the purchase is complete.
This transition to electronic tickets is a step towards modernising rail travel in the country.
For tourists, foreign residents, and other travellers, this signifies a simpler process for both booking and managing tickets.
It removes the need for physical tickets and potential challenges associated with collecting tickets at stations. The introduction of e-tickets will be particularly beneficial for international travellers.
Rather than having to deal with physical printouts or collecting tickets at a counter, one can now easily save the ticket on a mobile phone or other digital device.
This makes it significantly easier to plan and undertake rail journeys between Turkey’s various cities and regions.
With this, TCDD aims to make train travel more accessible and user-friendly.
It is a development that reflects the global trend of digital solutions within the travel industry, and it contributes to improving the overall experience for everyone who uses the railway in Turkey, whether for pleasure or necessity. From 1 September, the new practice will apply to all tickets purchased via TCDD platforms.
Travellers should therefore note that after purchase, they must check their email to find the digital ticket.
This change is a benefit that can help to reduce queues at ticket counters and make boarding more efficient.
This initiative from the Turkish State Railways is likely to simplify travel for tourists and other visitors who wish to explore Turkey by train.
Simpler ticketing solutions may also encourage more people to choose the train as a practical and comfortable means of transport in the country, thereby potentially influencing both booking trends and the overall travel experience in a positive way.
