Türkiye Develops National Simulation System for Train Drivers
Turkey' s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, has recently announced a new strategic technology project named SİMURAY-KBÜ.
The initiative focuses on the development of an advanced and realistic simulation system for train drivers, which will be based entirely on domestically developed software and hardware.
This project represents a significant step towards modernising the training infrastructure for railway personnel and strengthening the country' s technological independence within the transport sector. The new simulation system is designed to replicate a true-to-life train driver' s cab, where future drivers can undergo comprehensive, practical training in a safe and controlled environment.
By utilising advanced simulation technology, the system can mimic a wide range of operating conditions, including varying weather, track types, and emergency scenarios.
This provides candidates with valuable experience regarding the visual, auditory, and haptic feedback they will encounter during a real journey, contributing to more thorough and efficient training. The commitment to proprietary software and hardware underscores Turkey' s national strategy to promote self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on foreign solutions in critical technological areas.
The SİMURAY-KBÜ project is part of a broader government push for the digitalisation and modernisation of the nation' s infrastructure, with a clear objective to build local expertise and capacity.
This not only helps to keep sensitive technical data within national borders but also stimulates local industry and research. The project is expected to have a significant positive impact on the Turkish railway sector, both in terms of operational safety and professional development.
By ensuring that drivers are trained using the latest simulation technology, tailored to Turkey' s specific rail network and standards, the country will elevate the quality of its railway services.
In the long term, the development of such advanced systems may also open up export opportunities to regional and international markets, further strengthening Turkey' s position as a player in industrial and digital technology. Source: TRT Haber
