Two businesses sealed in Alanya following the discovery of unhygienic conditions and spoiled food

Alanya Municipality’s police department (Zabıta Müdürlüğü) has sealed two businesses and suspended their operations following the discovery of serious breaches of food safety and hygiene regulations during extensive inspections in Alanya.

The inspections, carried out on 8 September 2026, uncovered spoiled and mouldy food products, including expired meat and chicken, as well as general unhygienic conditions that posed a direct threat to public health.

This resolute measure is of great significance for residents, tourists, and visitors to the region alike, as it underlines the authorities' strict focus on food safety and consumer protection. During the operation, police teams found products that had either passed their expiry dates or were clearly spoiled and affected by mould.

Specific findings included rotten chicken and other meats that were no longer fit for human consumption.

In addition to the hazardous food items, extensive deficiencies in cleaning and hygiene were documented on the premises, which significantly increase the risk of cross-contamination and the spread of disease.

To ensure a thorough follow-up, Alanya Municipality has immediately initiated coordinated cooperation with the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

This partnership is vital for the responsible disposal of the seized food items and for implementing the necessary administrative and legal processes against the businesses that have violated regulations.

The goal is to ensure that similar incidents do not occur again. The incident and the authorities' swift response highlight Alanya’s commitment to safeguarding the safety and well-being of both its residents and the many tourists who visit the region annually.

For Nordic travellers, foreign residents, and anyone planning to visit or live in Alanya, this is an important confirmation that local authorities take food safety seriously.

This measure helps strengthen confidence in the food sector in the region, which is of great practical value for everyone who eats out or buys groceries in Alanya. Source: Gazete Alanya
