Ziraat Bank Launches Green Financing for Turkish SMEs
Ziraat Bank, a significant player in the Turkish banking system, has launched two new financing packages aimed at catalysing " green transformation" among the country' s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This initiative stems from a collaboration between the bank, the Credit Guarantee Fund (Kredi Garanti Fonu), and the Credit Registry Bureau (Kredi Kayıt Bürosu).
The objective is to promote both environmentally friendly investments and the development of sustainable export activities, aligning Turkey' s economy with global sustainability standards.
The green transition is vital for the future growth and international competitiveness of Turkish businesses. By investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable production, SMEs can reduce operational costs and meet the demands of international markets increasingly prioritising environmental responsibility. Ziraat Bank’s new loan offerings provide tangible economic stimulus for this essential shift and are crucial for meeting Turkey’s climate commitments.
The two new loan packages are specifically designed for different needs. The " Green Export Credit Package" has an upper limit of 50 million Turkish Lira (TL) and aims to support businesses improving environmental performance in their export-oriented operations. The " Green Investment Credit Package," with a limit of 75 million TL, is designated to finance investments in green technologies and production processes.
These packages offer substantial capital for businesses seeking to innovate sustainably.
These financing packages are a crucial component of Turkey’s broader economic strategy to foster sustainable development and strengthen its position in the global trade network. Increased focus on green exports can help diversify Turkey’s export portfolio and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
By empowering SMEs, the backbone of the Turkish economy, Ziraat Bank facilitates increased investment and job creation. This initiative reflects the understanding that sustainable practices are key to long-term economic stability and competitiveness for Turkish businesses, responding to growing global demands for corporate social responsibility and environmental impact.
