Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently sent an Eid message to the nation’s soldiers, known as Mehmetçik, emphasising Turkey’s role as a stabilising and security-creating power. The message was conveyed by Defence Minister Yaşar Güler during a meeting with soldiers at the Greek border, where Erdoğan highlighted the recent Efes-2026 military exercise as proof of Turkey’s capabilities. He stressed that Turkey is a country that generates trust and stability, excelling regionally and globally in securing borders and territorial areas.
President Erdoğan’s address, delivered during the Islamic holiday of Eid, acknowledged the “border eagles” stationed at the sensitive Greek frontier, specifically at the Arda Border Company Centre. He underscored the critical importance of their work for national security. Erdoğan referenced the Efes-2026 exercise, conducted the previous week, as a clear demonstration of Turkey’s military capacity and its ability to operate effectively in international cooperation.
The comprehensive military exercise involved personnel from 50 nations, including friendly, brotherly, and allied countries, showcasing Turkey’s prominent position in safeguarding land, air, and sea areas both regionally and globally. The President affirmed that such joint exercises prove Turkey’s commitment to collective defence and its capability to integrate forces from diverse nations to achieve common security objectives, reinforcing its strategic significance and role in promoting stability.
